Data Governance / Data Analyst

A Mid-level (3-8 years) Data Governance / Data Analyst with recent experience working in Banking and / or very large insurance companies. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE 5-6 YEARS and A HUGE BANK) This role will be instrumental in supporting our data governance initiatives, starting with Finance and expanding across other business units. The ideal candidate will bring experience in data mapping, lineage, and documentation, and will be comfortable engaging stakeholders across departments such as underwriting, claims, compliance, and finance.

Job Description :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Data Governance Data Analyst to join our team on a long-term, fully remote contract basis. This role will be instrumental in supporting our data governance initiatives, starting with Finance and expanding across other business units. The ideal candidate will bring experience in data mapping, lineage, and documentation, and will be comfortable engaging stakeholders across departments such as underwriting, claims, compliance, and finance.

Key Responsibilities :

• System & Data Inventory :

Identify and document data sources, systems, reports, and integrations, starting with Finance and extending to other business domains.

Trace data flow across systems, capture metadata (e.g., field names, frequency, direction), and support creation of data lineage diagrams.

Schedule, facilitate, and document meetings with stakeholders to capture business requirements, data definitions, usage contexts, and pain points.

Record and maintain a catalog of critical master and reference data elements such as policy, customer, product, and broker entities, including ownership and stewardship details.

Maintain clear and organized data documentation using tools like Confluence or similar platforms. Summarize findings and prepare draft deliverables for review.

Contribute to data governance strategy by gathering inputs for gap analysis and proposing solutions or improvement opportunities.

Research and evaluate data governance tools (cataloging, data quality, integration, etc.) and summarize fit / gap analysis against business requirements.
