Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity

Description :

This position is for a Neuro ICU nurse who will float to IMC.

The nurse will be required to manage patients in a 1 : 2 ratio.

Every other weekend coverage is required, with a total of 6 weekend shifts per contract.

Holiday coverage may also be necessary.

The candidate will need to provide care for adults and geriatrics in a variety of critical conditions.

Daily census in the unit is typically 16 patients.

The unit accepts first-time travelers.

The nursing duties may include assisting with arterial line management, chest tube insertion / removal, and ventilator management.

The nurse will also be responsible for administering blood products and managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction / failure.

Infection prevention practices and isolation precautions are essential.

Experience using the Cerner charting system is required.

The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration with various health services.

Patients may present with conditions including Covid, multisystem organ failure, respiratory illnesses, renal failure, sepsis, CVA / seizures, abdominal pain, and electrolyte imbalances.

Specialized equipment, such as IABP, CRRT, and targeted temperature management devices, is used in the unit.
