Position Summary :

The City of Oneonta is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Assistant Community Developer . This role provides vital administrative and strategic support to the Mayor's office and plays an active part in citywide public relations, community engagement, event planning, and economic development initiatives.

From planning seasonal events like the Night Market and Easter "Egg Hop" to managing social media outreach and supporting citywide initiatives, this position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, community-focused, and eager to contribute to Oneonta's ongoing growth and visibility.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Help coordinate public events, seasonal programs, and city celebrations.
  • Manage rentals for the Little Brick Church and the Oneonta Depot
  • Serve as a point of contact for community partners, vendors, and residents.
  • Assist with city social media content and public communications.
  • Assist with public relations, marketing, and community development campaigns.
  • Attends meetings, takes minutes, and follows up on tasks or communications.
  • Conduct research on local issues, ordinances, and community development topics.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years of administrative or community-focused work experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Experience with social media, marketing, or event planning preferred.
  • Knowledge of or interest in municipal operations and public service.
