Position Overview

We seek an Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence (GME) team within the Reliability Solutions Department (RSD). This department supports Saudi Aramco's facilities across refining, NGL processing, and petrochemicals, offering expertise in reliability, inspection, corrosion management, static and rotating equipment, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

The primary role involves providing expert guidance on optimizing operations using APC technologies such as DMC3, PACE, or Profit Suite, and leading improvement initiatives across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align APC objectives with corporate goals, develop programs, monitor KPIs, and improve economic performance.
  • Analyze process data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop inferential models to enhance refinery efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement APC strategies, conduct feasibility studies, and establish business cases to optimize refinery yields.
  • Evaluate new APC technologies like real-time optimization, machine learning, and AI for yield improvements.
  • Address complex APC issues to improve process operations and economic benefits.
  • Provide SME support to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams; lead technical sessions and reviews.
  • Assess performance of real-time optimization solutions and monitor KPIs for economic benefits.
  • Collaborate with the optimization team to ensure requirements are met.
  • Lead performance evaluations for APC technologies and review standards as SME.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years in reliability engineering within downstream Oil & Gas; 20+ years preferred.
  • Expertise in APC, control systems, OPC.
  • Strong understanding of refinery economics, mass and energy balances.
  • Knowledge of international standards for APC.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Leadership skills for managing technical discussions and teams.
  • Familiarity with oil / gas plant processes.
