Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Acute care position requiring an active IL RN license and pediatric experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in a hospital Pediatric Acute unit within an Acute Care settingUnit shares space with Pediatric Hematology / Oncology and comprises 22 beds, with additional beds available per census needsTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4Patient population includes medical and surgical pediatrics, with common diagnoses such as hyperbilirubinemia, neuro, diabetes, failure to thrive, cystic fibrosis, COVID, and ortho casesRNs use Epic for charting12-hour day shifts from 7 : 00 to 19 : 30, with every other weekend requiredFloating within the children’s hospital to other pediatric units and to mom / baby for baby assignments, but not to ICUs (unless experienced) or to care for chemo patientsNo mandatory call or standby requirementsPediatric crisis RN, charge RN, and administrative supervisor available 24 / 7 for supportPCTs are present with a 1 : 8-10 ratio to assist RNsPediatric hospitalist in house until midnight; 24 / 7 resident coverage providedMonitor tech monitors telemetry; RN receives notifications as neededHoliday coverage is required unless otherwise discussed and approvedInitial orientation includes 2 shifts, with possible extension upon approvalScrub tops can be any color or pattern appropriate for pediatrics, with solid color, non-revealing scrub pantsRequirements
Active IL RN license required or proof of license application in processMinimum of 2 years pediatric nursing experience requiredCurrent BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications requiredExperience with Epic EMR preferredAbility to perform tasks related to heated high flow and BiPAP with established parametersBenefits
