Member Services Consultant

Puget Sound Workers' Compensation Trust and Unemployment Pool (PSWCT / UP) seeks an experienced Member Services Consultant to take lead responsibility for building deep and effective relationships with new and existing school districts clients by executing initiatives that support short-term and long-term strategies around total cost of workers' compensation and unemployment compensation risk. The position collaborates closely and effectively with internal partners to ensure services align with client needs and leads the development and communication of our value proposition to prevent and mitigate exposure, as well as plans and executes new business development initiatives. Puget Sound Workers' Compensation Trust & Unemployment Pool, under the administrative oversight of Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD), is a group self-insured program that provides coverage for, and management of, workplace injuries and unemployment compensation claims for 33 school districts, PSESD, and their 45,000 employees in 6 counties within the state of Washington. Puget Sound Educational Service District (Puget Sound ESD) is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts and state approved charter and private schools in Washington. Essential Functions :

  • Builds and communicates PSWCT / UP's value proposition to clients and prospects for the purpose of achieving key business outcomes relative to client retention, client satisfaction and business development.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with internal staff and leadership on program and service planning for the purpose of developing, delivering, and documenting efficient, high-quality services to meet school districts' risk management needs.
  • Collaborates with business intelligence to execute solid analysis, relying on a strong understanding of the workers' compensation and unemployment compensation ecosystem, and solid financial acumen for the purpose of delivering creative and practical solutions for school district clients and prospects.
  • Convenes client stewardship meetings for the purpose of communicating account activity and addressing service-related matters.
  • Coordinates and leads activities among stakeholders to influence superior customer service delivery for the purpose of addressing school-district specific risk management needs.
  • Cultivates strong school district stakeholder and decision-maker relationships for the purpose of informing and influencing the implementation of strategies to reduce total cost of risk.
  • Demonstrates superior marketing and technical expertise for the purpose of influencing the adoption of recommended risk management solutions which comply with best practices for the industry.
  • Develops and executes multi-year plans for the purpose of meeting client retention and business development goals.
  • Develops and maintains a complete understanding of current industry knowledge, best practices, trends, and applications for the purpose of being recognized as a subject matter expert for workers' compensation and unemployment compensation risk management solutions.
  • Develops, documents and monitors risk management performance metrics and profiles for the purpose of informing the development of service plans aimed at assessing and improving school district risk profiles.
  • Embodies the principles and practices that form our culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization for the purpose of meeting the Agency's End : Success for Each Child and Eliminating the Opportunity Gap by Leading with Racial Equity.
  • Fosters and manages overall relationship with school district client for the purpose of ensuring the highest satisfaction with claims and risk management services.
  • Leads the deployment of coordinated and strategic communications utilizing multiple modes and distribution channels for the purpose of efficiently and effectively disseminating pertinent risk management information to build and sustain a culture of safety.
  • Manages new account implementation and orientation for the purpose of ensuring new account understanding of programs and services as well as the navigation required for the best service experience possible.
  • Pursues and responds to requests-for-proposal (RFPs) and other forms of business development opportunities for the purpose of achieving program and business development goals.
  • Utilizes fleet vehicles for the purpose of performing the essential functions of the position.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Risk Management, or related field; or an Associate's degree in Business, Marketing, Risk Management, or related field and 3+ years of progressively responsible work-related experience; or a high school diploma / GED or equivalent and 6+ years of progressively responsible work-related experience.

  • Claims, Risk, or Insurance experience
  • Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and business clients within a risk / carrier environment and / or business setting
  • Experience coordinating and executing client stewardship activities
  • Possess a valid driver's license & evidence of insurability
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Knowledge of Washington State workers' compensation environment

  • Experience persuading and influencing adoption of claims and risk management best practices
  • Prior successful experience servicing customers and / or clients
  • Claims and risk management experience
  • Experience in a customer-facing position with management of multiple and competing customer needs in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment
