Job Title : General Manager – Beloved Bay Area Food Brand
Location : Hybrid (on-site in San Rafael, CA, at customers around the Bay Area, and from home)
Compensation : $125,000 base + performance bonus + equity

We’re a 30-year-old, beloved Bay Area brand known for our clean-label, artisan baked goods — a staple on the shelves of local and regional grocers. Now under new ownership, we’re entering an exciting next chapter focused on refreshing the brand, expanding our reach, and strengthening our connection to the local food community.
Role Description
As General Manager, you’ll own the company’s P&L and lead across operations, sales, and brand development. You’ll oversee a small but passionate team — including a logistics manager and a team of bakers — while serving as the key interface with our retail partners.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines operational discipline with an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for good food.
This job would be perfect for someone with a few years of experience at a big CPG company looking to get some small company, do-a-little-bit-of-everything experience before starting their own company, heading to business school, or continuing to grow with us!
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily business operations, including production, fulfillment, and logistics.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering accountability and collaboration.
- Own and manage the P&L, driving efficiency and sustainable profitability.
- Oversee product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as the primary point of contact for retail and wholesale customers.
- Build strong relationships with store teams to support merchandising and sell-through.
- Identify opportunities to expand distribution and strengthen presence in existing accounts.
Marketing & Brand Development
Partner with ownership to lead a brand refresh — from packaging and messaging to digital presence.Launch community outreach, local marketing, and in-store activation initiatives.Build and grow the marketing and sales function over time.Translate strategic goals into actionable operating plans.Identify new product, channel, and promotional opportunities.Track key metrics and continuously improve performance across the business.Qualifications
4+ years of professional experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), ideally in food or beverage.Experience in sales, marketing, or supply chain preferred.Proven ability to lead people and manage cross-functional operations.Strong relationship-building and communication skills.Passion for clean-label, local, and artisan food.Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort in a growing, evolving organization.Availability to work 40–45+ hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.Bilingual (Spanish and English) a plus.Why Join Us
