Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads for 50 years. Paralegal Adjunct
Responsibilities
- Adjunct faculty member is responsible for teaching courses to which they have specific training or competence. Plan, organize, teach, and provide feedback to students to promote and direct learning in a classroom, remote via Zoom, or online environment for students with diverse backgrounds.
- Engage students outside of class via office hours and provide thorough, timely, and effective feedback regarding mastery of course and program learning outcomes.
- Create a learning environment that facilitates students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in a discipline and / or program.
- Align course activities with student learning outcomes; employ active learning strategies and appropriate technology; provide prompt and meaningful feedback; communicate with students in a timely and respectful manner.
- Deliver instruction in support of stated learning outcomes; adhere to college policies for student surveys; conduct meaningful assessments of student learning (including at least one assessment within the first 15% of the course) and use evaluations to improve instruction.
- Possibly work during the day, evening, and / or weekend as determined by the course(s) assigned. Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course.
Qualifications
JD from an accredited law school or Bachelor of Laws (LLB).Two years related occupational experience.Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format.Additional Considerations
Knowledge of legal principles in immigration law and litigation.College-level teaching experience.Knowledge of CANVAS or other learning management systems.Knowledge of and experience with proven teaching strategies that promote student success.Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that uses significant information and instructional technology resources.Other Details
