SUMMARY__________
The Radiologic Technologist must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to obtain a quality diagnostic study properly and safely. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and / or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ( include, but are not limited to, the following)
- Delivers compassionate care to maintain a high standard of Radiography.
- To ensure that the three principles of radiation protection, namely justification, optimization (ALARA) and dose constraints / limits are adhered to.
- Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide verbal and / or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
- Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination.
- Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
- To take part in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions to Imaging Services Director.
- To take responsibility for the general cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of the Department, with specific responsibility for their own work area.
- To familiarize themselves with current infection control procedures.
- Maintain adequate radiologic supplies.
- Proficiency in PACS and EMR systems
- Perform other duties as required.
