Position Summary
The intercollegiate athletics program is an integral part of the university striving to achieve the same standards of excellence in athletics that exist within academic programs. The program is concerned with the physical and mental welfare of the student and strives to ensure that every student-athlete has the opportunity to succeed academically and obtain a degree. Sport programs are a vital function of the University at large. The position will be responsible for assisting the Director of Track and Field in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training and competition with Track & Field, and Cross Country.
Job Duties
Collaboration & Coordination
The supervisor will meet weekly to go through practice planning and performance updates to ensure progress is being meet and goals are achieved. Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance - daily interaction includes rules interpretations, recruiting permission, reporting violations, discussion and advisement. Director of Marketing & Sales - cyclic interaction for track and field / cross country promotional events and activities. Director of Communications - weekly interaction (varies depending upon season) for media guides and press releases on honors, awards, statistics. Student-Athlete Academic Support Staff - daily; facilities / ticket manager - weekly; equipment manager - daily; athletic trainers - daily; business office and admin staff - daily; conference and scheduling, residence life and food service programs; financial aids office; visit center and admissions.
