Role Overview
We are seeking a Loan Officer to join our Member Services team. This role assist members with their borrowing needs; analyze loan requests and make decisions based on lending policy. A Loan Officer will provide Information and assistance to members about credit union products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Interviews loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition. Explains loan programs and recommends loan options.
- Analyzes member's current financial position to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit. Makes decision to approve, deny, or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision. Underwrites loans for Member Service Representatives.
- Establishes terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the member.
- Identifies cross-sell opportunities and cross-sells services to members.
- Prepares and / or reviews loan documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Assists with delinquency control and collection activity.
- Assists members with savings, certificates, IRA accounts, checking accounts, and other credit union products and services.
- Authorizes release of collateral on existing loans, changes in loan terms, waivers of payments, due date change, etc.
- Keeps informed of consumer credit laws and regulations and trends in consumer credit.
Performance Expectations
Produce assigned loan volume (dollars and / or numbers).Open proportionate share of new accounts.Meet or exceed established goals in cross-selling credit union products and services.Maintain a delinquency and charged-off loan rate that is within established goals.Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers.Qualifications
Experience : 1-3 years of similar or related experience.
Education :
Two-year college degree, ORCompletion of specialized certification / licensing, OREquivalent specialized training through vendors or apprenticeship.Skills & Attributes :
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with lending processes, compliance, and credit union operations preferred.Why Join NUFCU?
