Survivor Benefits offered by Social Security Administration in Mount Vernon
Provides monthly cash benefits for the eligible survivors of workers covered under Social Security who have died. The amount received depends on the worker's age and how much they have earned. Additionally, it makes a one-time payment of $255 to the surviving spouse of a worker who has died. If there is no surviving spouse, the payment is made to a child who is eligible for benefits on the deceased's record in the month of death. The lump-sum payment is in addition to any monthly survivors insurance benefits that may be due.
