  • During a typical day, you can expect to :

  • Inspect oil, solid fuel and gas installations for compliance with laws, adopted standards, and the Fuel Board Rules;
  • Conduct investigations of complaints filed with the Fuel Board,
  • Advise and instruct fuel technicians licensed in Maine as to the correct use and implementation of state laws and national codes.
  • Coordinating travel arrangements to inspection sites, which may involve reimbursable overnight stays.
  • Because this work involves enforcing fuel codes for other fuel technicians, private work on the side is not permitted.

    Minimum qualifications :

    Possession of a Maine Master Oil & Solid Fuel License and Propane & Natural Gas License.

    LICENSING / REGISTRATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

    Licensed as a Master Oil / Solid Fuel and Propane & Natural Gas Technician in Maine.

    Preference will be given to those applicants :

  • Very familiar with state laws and national standards pertaining to the regulation of oil, solid fuel and gas installations in Maine.
  • Understand the codes adopted by the Fuel Board.
  • Experience using computer-based word processor and spreadsheet programs
