The Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Manager works closely with the Ambulatory Care Assistant Chief to establish and execute strategy for the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialty Clinical Services. This includes identifying areas of improvement, opportunities for development of new innovative services, mitigation of emerging threats, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness / efficiency. The Ambulatory Manager of Specialty Clinical is well versed in all applicable accrediting agency requirements including but not limited to URAC, The Joint Commission, Board of Pharmacy, and other accreditations as needed. This manager serves as the primary leader who oversees assigned Specialty Clinical Services. These include but are not limited to pharmacists in clinic, technicians supporting the pharmacists and the financial assistance program (including prescription capture programs) and other programs as they arise. This Manager oversees the team's participation in population health initiatives relevant to Specialty Pharmacy at UC Davis and UCOP. This leader works with the Assistant Chief to drive strategy for specialty clinical services and help grow the pharmacy enterprise. This leader also works closely with the Assistant Chief of Specialty and the Managers of outpatient retail to help drive revenue and prescription capture.

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.
The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. This position is "exempt" and on occasion, the employee may have to work longer than the scheduled shift. Employee may have routine on-call assignment in which availability by pager is required. Employee needs to be available by phone or pager after hours for consultation if needed. The situation may arise where the employee will need to return to work in emergency situations. The position is mostly days, but could include evening shifts, night shifts, and rotating weekend shifts as applicable. Must have good personal hygiene and dress in a professional manner consistent with the Departmental professional behavior policy.
