Job Description

Make precision happen

If you thrive in a clean, lean, and safety-first shop and enjoy moving between CNC and manual machines, this role lets you build and modify tooling and parts that keep production humming.

What you'll do

  • Set up, adjust, and run mills and lathes (CNC and manual) to produce and refine precision components and tooling.
  • Translate prints, sketches, and verbal guidance into machining plans; choose materials, holders, and cutters accordingly.
  • Operate drill presses, sanders, grinders, and support equipment to complete features efficiently.
  • Verify tolerances using micrometers (standard and depth), inside diameter and outside diameter gauges, and other metrology.
  • Apply shop math to calculate dimensions; tune speeds / feeds to hit surface finish and tolerance goals.
  • Maintain a 5S work area; rigorously follow lockout / tagout and safe work practices—comfortable working independently when needed.
  • Partner with engineering and direct labor teams; recommend safer, faster, and more cost-effective tooling solutions.
  • Monitor machine health and troubleshoot operating issues; keep equipment running correctly.
  • Order raw materials and log work within the ERP system.
  • Pitch in on related tasks as business needs evolve.

What you bring

  • 1–3 years of machining experience required; job shop and CNC exposure preferred. AAS in an engineering field or formal schooling is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches; proven record of holding tight tolerances.
  • Proficiency with CNC tooling and manual machining; experience with CAD / CAM software.
  • Knowledge of tooling technology, speeds / feeds, and operation monitoring (gauges / dials).
  • Hands-on, team-oriented approach; strong initiative and communication skills.
  • Math proficiency and comfort with MS Office; ERP experience to requisition material.
  • Understanding of lockout / tagout requirements and safe setup practices.
  • Tools and tech

  • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) (Bridgeport)
  • CNC Lathe (2–4 axis)
  • Manual mills / lathes, drill press, sanders, grinders
  • CAD / CAM software
  • Physical demands

  • Close vision for inspection and instrument reading.
  • Lift / pull / push up to 50 lbs during setup and teardown.
  • Stand 8–10 hours; frequent bending and reaching to verify measurements.
  • Career & pay

Pay is determined by your skills, experience, certifications, and the needs of the business. Opportunities to broaden responsibility come with demonstrated quality, safety, and collaboration.
