Position : Lead Round Saw Filer

Reports to : Saw Filer Superintendent

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Position Overview : We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Round Saw Filer with extensive experience working with carbide-tipped round saws to join our sawmill team at Restoration Forest Products. In this lead role, you will be responsible for maintaining, sharpening, and repairing carbide-tipped circle saws and related tooling to ensure top-level saw performance, cutting accuracy, and safety. You will also supervise circle filing room operations and support production teams by ensuring the saws are properly maintained and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities :

• Sharpen, maintain, and repair carbide-tipped round saws , including re-tipping and brazing when needed.
• Set and maintain proper grind angles, tension, and level on saws to optimize cutting performance and reduce downtime.
• Operate and maintain automatic and manual saw grinding and tensioning equipment.
• Inspect saws for damage or wear and take corrective actions, including replacing teeth or performing tension adjustments.
• Supervise round saw filing room staff and maintain high standards for safety and quality.
• Work closely with millwrights, saw operators, and production teams to troubleshoot sawing issues and ensure peak performance.
• Maintain accurate logs of tool usage, maintenance, and inventory.
• Order and manage inventory for saws, tips, flux, brazing materials, and filing supplies.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and OSHA regulations in the filing room.
• Train junior filers and assist with skill development and cross-training.
