Ideal Candidate Statement

The Career Advisor / Case Manager (CACM) serves as a member of the Ohlone Career Center team and providesWorkforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Services to community job seekers and students. The CACM provides

outreach to elicit interest in WIOA services to build a caseload of job seekers who will benefit from these services. They

serve as a case manager, coordinating services for job seekers, and ensuring that appropriate Career Counseling & job

search support is provided to the individual. The CACM may assist with workshops, event planning, and overall career

development and employer related programming and services. This position will also help coordinate outreach efforts

for WIOA services at large, including large scale email blasts, partnerships with local organizations to promote WIOA

services, and more.

The Ohlone College Tri-cities Career Center (Career Center) is an innovative organization that provides career services to

students and community members. The Career Center integrates services and resources provided by the Workforce

Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) with higher education career development models and serves high school

students, adult education students, community college students, college / university graduates, community job seekers,

dislocated workers, under represented populations (disadvantaged adults, veterans, people with disabilities, re-entry,

low-income, etc.) and employers. The integration between education, workforce, and economic development makes

Ohlone College an exciting, innovative, and cutting-edge institution of higher education.

Note : This is a temporary position, for 6-9 months at 35-40 hours / week with an option to extend based on grant

requirements and budget.

Duties and Responsibilities

Eligibility & Case Management :

1. Coordinate eligibility, including obtaining appropriate documentation, for students / job seekers interested in WIOAservices2. Provide grant-funded program enrollment services to students & community members; input student and requireddata; review and maintain files, case notes, individual employment plans, and intake documents; provide individualized career guidance to enrolled students; assure tracking of enrollment and performance measures.3. Hold intake appointments with eligible students & community members to identify career & training needs; workwith client to create a career development plan4. Manage client electronic records and case files maintain and update a variety of records relating to client progress,abilities and opportunities.5. Coordinate delivery of services in partnership Ohlone College staff and resources, referring client to careerdevelopment workshops, 1 : 1 career counseling, career fairs, internships, and other career related resources asappropriate6. Provide referrals to students / clients regarding community and social services resources; create and implementindividualized career plans; identify barriers and develop compensatory strategies.7. Evaluate job seeker progress to determine case closure, successful employment or reception of unemploymentbenefits; input and resolve data codes in an assigned database; assure the accuracy and completeness ofeligibilities, documentation and case notes;8. Provide guidance to job seekers regarding vocational training; determine training eligibility and approval; provideassessments for outside agencies; maintain and submit required documents; assure compliance with applicablepolicies and procedures.9. Manage student / client electronic records and case files maintain and update a variety of records relating to clientprogress, abilities and opportunities.10. Conduct internal audits of peer files; assure compliance of documents and records with County laws, rules andregulations; generate and submit feedback and corrections to assigned personnel in accordance with applicablepolicies and procedures.11. Prepare and maintain a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and files related to personnel, grantrequirements and assigned activities.12. Support career development services at local Tri-Cities Adult Schools13. Coordinate and support workshops & Career Services information sessions for job seekers; assist with conductingjob search workshops; generate, update and maintain workshop curriculum; evaluate training curriculum to assureeffectiveness and diversity of training techniques and learning styles.Outreach : 1. Outreach to job seekers to promote career services & WIOA via CalJobs blasts, email & phone2. Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders including Ohlone College faculty, staff, students; Alameda CountyWorkforce Development Board; and local community-based organizations & agenciesEmployer Engagement : 1. Interact with employers as needed to support recruiting activities.2. Identify and become familiar with recruiting and employment trends for the Greater Bay Area / Silicon Valley, state,and nation.3. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Salary Placement

Initial salary placement will be $30.83-$34.00 per hour and is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Minimum Qualifications Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
