Diesel Mechanic - Metals Recycling - Base Salary to 40.00 / hour - Tulsa, OK

  • Our client, a large Scrap Metal Recycler, is seeking a hands-on Diesel Mechanic to oversee the daily operations of the Maintenance Shop & Yard Equipment.
  • The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. The Diesel Mechanic's hands-on expertise will support maintenance goals by minimizing equipment downtime and extending the life of our clients' fleet. The Diesel Mechanic will work closely with team members and vendors while adhering to high standards of safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel engines and heavy equipment, including trucks, material handlers, loaders, and forklifts.
  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce equipment failure and improve performance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain detailed service records for all maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Assist in sourcing and installing parts, collaborating with vendors to ensure timely repairs.
  • Provide input on improving shop operations, maintenance schedules, and repair procedures.
  • Work closely with other technicians and supervisors to ensure quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement in shop practices.
  • Qualifications :

  • Certified Diesel Mechanic (e.g., ASE certification or equivalent).
  • Proven hands-on experience working on diesel engines and heavy equipment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard safety practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Vocational training or technical school degree in diesel technology or a related field preferred.
  • CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus.
  • Compensation :

  • Compensation for this role includes a base salary up to 40.00 / hour. Our client also offers individualized health benefits and 401k with a company match.
