Responsibilities
Summary :
The Substance Use Disorder Counselor under general supervision and as part of a team, is responsible for the administration of standard screening and risk assessments with participants. This position will be assigned specific participants, referred as a “caseload” and monitor the service delivery for these participants from intake to discharge within the Pretrial Complex (Region IV Baltimore City, MD).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
The Substance Use Disorder Counselor administers, scores, and interprets all required screening and assessment tools including but not limited to the Texas Christian University (TCU) Drug Screen, Treatment Assignment Protocol (TAP), and the University of Rhode Island Change Assessment (URICA).May also use other assessment and substance abuse evaluation tools to support the level of care American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) placement.The Substance Use Disorder Counselor conducts screenings and assessments during the intake process and back-end screenings for standing populations.Conducts post-testing for participants as they go through the program.The Substance Use Disorder Counselor interviews participants to collect additional data not covered by the above assessment tools.Maintains participant files.The Substance Use Disorder Counselor provides the following services, screening and assessments, individual substance abuse counseling and group substance abuse counseling.Completes biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, discharge summaries, daily productivity trackers.The Substance Use Disorder Counselor maintains clinical chart per the Code of Maryland (COMAR) regulations and requirements.Complete discharge and aftercare plans.Participates in All Staff Meeting and Workplace Violence Meetings.The Substance Use Disorder Counselor actively participates and attends clinical supervision.May participate in other Participant-Staffing Meetings, Case Consultations.Other duties, as assigned.Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent.Must hold an ADT designation.Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8 AM TO 4 : 30 PM.Bilingual English / Spanish, preferredExperience providing human service functions preferred.Ability to interact professionally in both individual and group counseling settingsExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to effectively communicate with participants, other staff, and leadership personnel and react quickly and appropriately in emergenciesAbility to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the Department of CorrectionsGEO Reentry Services LLC.
