Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN to float across multiple critical care units, requiring a MO or compact RN license and strong ICU skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a short-term acute care hospital setting
  • Float to multiple ICU units including Trauma, Oncology, Cardiac / Heart and Vascular, Neurology, Medicine, and COVID
  • May float to inpatient Med Surg / Medicine floors as needed
  • ICU nurse-to-patient ratio is 2 : 1 for all shifts
  • Inpatient floor ratio is no more than 1 : 3
  • Night shift position with 12-hour shifts (18 : 45-07 : 15)
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Free parking available
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Uses EPIC for documentation; charting experience with EPIC preferred
  • Float to various critical care units and inpatient floors based on staffing needs
  • May be assigned as a patient sitter if needed
  • Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract with no time off the first week
  • All mandatory modules must be completed prior to start date
  • Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing, or shaving is required
  • Holiday coverage may be expected based on hospital needs
  • Return staff must allow for required breaks per policy before returning
  • No medical marijuana cards accepted
  • Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
  • A minimum of 2 years ICU experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Strong ICU skill set including vents, IV starts, telemetry, and conscious sedation
  • Experience with cardiac procedures (Swans / hemodynamic interpretation, IABP, Impella, ECMO, CRRT) preferred but not required
  • Chemo, CCRN, NIHSS, ONS, TNCC, and CPI certifications preferred
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • Will not accept first-time travelers
  • Permanent former employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Valid SSN and DOB required
