Tax Manager
Responsible for the management of the State and Local Tax Compliance process and work closely with our State Tax Planning group in generating tax savings ideas.
Entergy Services, LLC ("Entergy") seeks a qualified Tax Manager for a position in its corporate Tax Services Department for state and local taxes. Candidate must have extensive and current knowledge of sales, use, and property taxation. Supervise and review sales and use tax compliance and other state and local miscellaneous tax returns. Supervise and review property tax filings and prepare and negotiate property valuations. Ensure all state and local payments are made on time. Provide state and local tax planning and business advice to Entergy's business units on significant transactions and procurement contracts. Identify and implement tax savings opportunities and process improvements. Defend sales and use tax audit positions and research and resolve sales / use tax audit issues. Monitor and ensure compliance with any new tax laws and regulations. Identify and mitigate potential increased tax exposure and audit risks. Manage the administration of operational growth to successfully address all nexus concerns and additional reporting responsibilities. Provide functional knowledge and guidance to staff to ensure continued technical development and facilitate professional growth.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience.
MBA or Advanced Degree is a plus
10+ years experience in state and local taxes.
CPA or Certified Member of Institute for Professionals in Taxation is preferred.
Experience in the utility industry preferred.
Experience in supervising direct reports
Strong overall computer and technology skills desired.
Prior property, sales / use tax preparation and review experience, including knowledge of processes.
Adept at using tax technology tools (Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Determination, PowerPlan)
Ability and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (primarily Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to effectively use tax research tools.
Office environment with minimal physical requirements.
