Phoenix Loss Control (PLC) is a US-based business services provider in the cable, telecom, and utilities sector. PLC’s core service is outside plant damage investigation, recovery, and prevention. Across the US and parts of Canada, we help our clients recover the costs of third-party damage to their infrastructure, such as underground fiber optic or gas lines. PLC currently employs over 140 people, servicing some of the largest cable and telecoms operators (e.g., Comcast, Spectrum, AT&T, and Google). PLC is currently aggressively expanding its business and looking for talented and energetic people to bring onboard to help drive growth.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Paralegal position plays a crucial role in supporting the legal department by assisting attorneys with legal research, document preparation, and administrative tasks. This remote position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of legal procedures and terminology.
Duties
Legal Research and Analysis :
- Conduct legal research on various topics, including case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedent
- Analyze and summarize findings to assist in case preparation and strategy development
Document Preparation and Management :
Draft and review legal documents, correspondence, contracts, pleadings, and other legal filingsOrganize and maintain legal documents and case files, ensuring accuracy and completenessCase Support and Litigation Assistance :
Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings and closings by organizing exhibits, files, and evidenceCoordinate with external parties, including clients, witnesses, and experts, to gather information and documentsRequirements
Education :
Associate degree or certificate in Paralegal Studies or a related field (required)Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Pre-law, or a related discipline (preferred)Experience :
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal departmentExperience in a remote work environment or familiarity with virtual legal tools (preferred)Skills and Competencies :
Proficiency in legal research methods and databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detailAbility to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervisionKnowledge of litigation support and case management software is advantageousEquipment :
