Location : Irvine, California (ONSITE – daily; no relocation offered)
Salary Range : $160,000 – $180,000
They are not seeking a traditional nonprofit leader. This role doesn’t require prior nonprofit experience—instead, they are looking for a proven business leader with P&L ownership, digital transformation expertise, and the ability to design scalable revenue models while leading with agility.

The Executive Director will be a transformational leader who combines business acumen, philanthropy or volunteerism, and digital savvy to expand reach and strengthen long-term durability.

Position Overview
The Executive Director (ED) will lead the organization into its next phase of growth—strengthening its mission, expanding its digital capabilities, and ensuring long-term organizational impact. Reporting directly to the Chairman of the Board, the Executive Director serves as the organization’s chief executive, responsible for overall strategy, operations, partnerships, fundraising, and culture.
This is a fully onsite leadership role. The Executive Director must live within commuting distance of Irvine, CA, and be present at the office daily. Relocation is not offered for this position.
The ED will guide a national team of approximately 20 professionals and hundreds of volunteers, fostering innovation, accountability, and inclusion. The ideal candidate is both a visionary and a builder—someone who can inspire others, drive strategic transformation, and operationalize a modern, data-informed nonprofit model.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic LeadershipLead the implementation of the organization’s strategy to strengthen durability, expand reach, and grow earned revenue through a membership-based model.Champion a digital-first transformation, integrating virtual programs, digital content, and data-driven decision-making.Collaborate with the Board of Directors to shape long-term direction, priorities, and governance effectiveness.Ensure all programs and initiatives align with mission, impact goals, and financial sustainability.Organizational and Operational ManagementOversee a distributed team of professionals across programs, digital strategy, fundraising, and operations.Build a culture of accountability, learning, and inclusion—empowering teams to innovate and deliver measurable results.Manage organizational performance against defined goals, budgets, and KPIs.Partner closely with the Finance and Administration Manager to ensure strong fiscal management and compliance.Ensure accountability for legal, compliance, HR, and risk management across all aspects of the organization.Fundraising and External RelationsServe as the organization’s chief ambassador, strengthening relationships with donors, partners, and families nationwide.Expand philanthropic and earned income by cultivating relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.Represent the organization in media, events, and key external forums, serving as a credible and inspiring voice for the mission.Program and Impact OversightEnsure all programs—including education, family support, and community events—deliver measurable impact and align with family needs.Partner with the Program Director and Digital Program Manager to expand digital learning, engagement, and resource access.Leverage data and analytics to measure outcomes, strengthen grants, and guide continuous improvement.Integrate digital tools and AI-powered innovations to enhance scalability, personalization, and access.Board Relations and GovernancePartner with the Chairman and Board of Directors to ensure clarity of strategic priorities, performance metrics, and organizational health.Provide transparent reporting on performance, impact, and financials.Collaborate with the Board to recruit and onboard new members who bring diverse expertise and perspectives.Key Qualifications
Ten or more years of progressive nonprofit leadership experience, including executive-level management of teams, strategy, and operations.Proven success leading organizational growth, change management, or digital transformation.Strong track record in fundraising, partnerships, and financial stewardship.Understanding of the family support community or related human services fields preferred which could come from a personal history of philanthropy or mission-focused volunteer engagementSkilled communicator who inspires trust and builds relationships across diverse stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to manage hybrid and distributed teams effectively.Must reside within commuting distance of Irvine, CA (no relocation support).Leadership Competencies

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $160,000 to $180,000, commensurate with experience. The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement contributions.
