Position Summary / Essential Functions
The Manufacturing Engineer III is a highly experienced role that is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment in one or more facilities. Oversees and optimizes more complex manufacturing and assembly of new and existing Parker products to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and drive operational excellence. Develops advanced manufacturing techniques, testing new systems and methods for efficiency, and planning assembly layouts to optimize production, quality, cost, and safety. Will be responsible for developing and deploying large capital projects. Follow AS9100 procedures and in some cases, train others on these procedures.
- Continuous improvement of manufacturing and business processes through the application of lean techniques : Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, work cells, pull systems, error-proofing and visual management.
- Manufacturing Process Flow - Plans and designs complex and advanced manufacturing processes to improve the manufacture and assembly of new and existing products. Determines equipment and tooling needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product and quality specifications.
- Process Improvement – Helps develop and implement process improvement projects that focus on manufacturing efficiency, material yield, safety, and cost. Leads teams in large scope process improvement initiatives.
- Engineering Design Support – Recommends design concepts for engineering leadership regarding concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
- Regulatory Compliance – Ensures complex processes and procedures comply with regulations for multiple solution lines. Applies frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
- Remediation - Investigates and takes corrective action to ensure product quality and resolve quality issues.
- Designs tooling and fixtures as needed.
- Estimates production times and time standards to provide information for management decisions and proposals.
- Documents general manufacturing procedures and part-specific work instructions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S. / BSc) from a four-year college or university or equivalent.Minimum of 5-8+ years of applicable experience and / or training.Advanced knowledge and ability to apply concepts of engineering and automation to multiple solution lines.Ability to apply a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving of sophisticated scope and complexity.Effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, Lean)Advanced knowledge of MRP / ERP systemsAbility to work effectively with CAD / CAM; Solid Modeling systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems, in addition to standard business application software and / or specialized data analysis tools.Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and specifications.Ability to develop new procedures to solve problems.Direct experience with machine design and implementation of automated manufacturing systems.Ability to research and analyze data effectively and draw valid conclusions.Strong verbal and written communication skillsWell-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-taskStrong prioritization skillsSelf-motivated creative thinkerStrong computer skills, including mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and SolidWorks.
