Job Description :

As the Assistant Grants and Research Director, you will be responsible for writing, editing and submitting grant proposals and grant reports for a portfolio of assigned units within the Indiana Division; researching grant opportunities and prospective funders; advising program staff and Corps officers about grant requirements and expectations; and providing grant-related support for the assigned units to ensure all potential grant resources are identified and utilized to their fullest extent to address organizational needs, ensuring that the mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do :

• Collaborate with program staff, Corps officers, and service extension representatives at assigned units within the Indiana Division to identify needs and priorities for funding support
• Conduct research on potential grant opportunities to address identified needs
• Provide support as needed to officers and staff at assigned Corps in writing and / or proofreading their grant proposals
• Write grant proposals for assigned service extension units
• Collaborate with service extension representatives and staff to ensure timely submission of required grant reports
• Ensure grant applications are approved by Divisional Finance Board and grant agreements are signed by DFB leadership
• Maintain calendar of grant application and reporting deadlines for assigned units to ensure timeliness and effective utilization of funding opportunities
• Collaborate with Divisional Grants and Research Director, Divisional Development Director, and other development staff on unified and effective fundraising strategies
• Other tasks as assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications : The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and / or abilities required for this position.

Education : Bachelor's degree in social work, nonprofit management, or other closely related field from an accredited institution.

Background Checks : Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience : A minimum of two years' grant writing experience in a nonprofit environment, including demonstrated success in managing and coordinating grant writing projects, securing grant awards, and completing timely grant reports.

Certifications : Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard. Must complete Safe from Harm training and TSAMM (The Salvation Army Mission Management) training within the first 90 days of employment. CFRE certification a plus.
