Description : POSITION SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager, the Phlebotomist / Lab Technician will perform routine blood collections on our pediatric population and perform medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment utilizing the following analyzers : Sysmex (CBC), Cepheid (CT / NG &TV), Abbott ID NOW (Molecular Strep A, COVID-19), LeadCare II (LEAD), FastPack (TSH & Vitamin D) and other essential Point-of-Care Test Kits.
- Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8 : 30pm-5pm in our new Topsfield location (hours may vary based on needs of the practice)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs applicable blood collection techniqueLabels blood samples with sensitivity and confidentialityReceive, label and analyze other samplesRecord all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibilityReport test results following protocols alerting providers and / or nurses about abnormal resultsMaintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory suppliesEnsure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environmentQuality assurance for Massachusetts State Licensure, Federal (CLIA) Lab CertificationKnowledgeable on Athena Software, however we will be switching to EPIC in JuneOther duties as assignedRequirements :
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum 2 years phlebotomy experience, preferable experience with pediatricsExcellent written and verbal communication, excellent organization and attention to detailAbility to work independently as well as function as part of the care teamAbility to handle sensitive medical information / HIPAA complianceWorking knowledge of EMR, Microsoft office and emailEDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
A high school diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED)
Phlebotomy experience in Pediatrics
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Visual / hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written / verbal communication.
Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include lifting of supplies,
equipment, extensive bending, standing, walking or sitting may be required.
Ability to deal effectively with stress.
