About The Position

Experience : Minimum of 4 years in Labor & Delivery, including experience with high-risk deliveries

License : Required

Certifications : ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP

Must-Have :

C-section experience with circulating and scrubbing preferred

Familiarity with medications such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips

Description :

The unit includes Labor & Delivery and Postpartum areas.

It comprises 12 L&D Beds, 10 triage beds, and 12 antepartum beds.

On average, there are 200 births per month.

Certifications required include NRP, BLS, ACLS, and advanced fetal monitoring.

Nurse-patient ratios follow industry guidelines.

The fetal monitoring system used is Fetal Link, and electronic medical records are maintained in Cerner.

Charge nurses maintain patient assignments as necessary.

There are two scheduled OB techs per shift who assist with deliveries and scrub in for c-sections.

Weekend requirements are every other weekend.

There is no on-call requirement.

Holiday responsibilities include one major and two minor holidays.

Scrub color is provided and must be sterile.

There are no ventilators in use.

Two OB attendings and one neonatologist are available in-house 24 / 7.

Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

Shifts are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

C-section experience is required.

The unit may float to antepartum and postpartum areas.

Floor-specific orientation consists of three shifts on the unit.

Common diagnoses include high-risk conditions such as hypertension, multiples, diabetes, lack of prenatal care, and substance abuse.

Candidates should inquire about specific types of high-risk deliveries they have experience with.

Acrylic and overlay nails are not permitted during the assignment.

The facility is the 13th largest center for births in California.
