Overview
This position is responsible for the management and administration of the company's safety and environmental programs. This position must ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and standards affecting these programs. Actively participates and displays behaviors of the company values. Must have a valid driver's license.
Accountabilities
- Responsible for the training of all personnel on relevant safety standards and procedures
- Create / maintain / update safety procedures and records as needed
- Responsible for managing workers compensation cases including communicating costs to management, maintaining contacts with insurance carriers and lawyers
- Oversees tracking and communication of first aid expenses
- Facilitate safety activities including Padnos Safety Week and safety committees
- Write articles for the Safety Corner of the Padnos News Flash
- Manage the STOP program, safety incentives,
- Complete all governmental reporting that is required annually (OSHA 2000)
- Maintain contact with all Temporary Agencies on all temporary injuries, medical costs, and work-restricted duties
- Facilitate return-to-work activities for injured employees
- Coordinate fleet safety programs
- Work with supervisors on reducing / eliminating injuries in their departments
- Act as a liaison between injured employees, their families, and the Company
- Work with Quality to write and maintain safety work instructions
- Maintain / Update MSDS information for all departments
- Keep updated on current OSHA and MIOSHA standards
- Oversees Equipment Licensing Program and co-ordinates company testors to insure proper licensing is accomplished on all equipment (not including LPT fleet)
- Develops, implements, and maintains a documented Environmental Management system in accordance to ISO 14001 standards.
- Reports to executive management on the performance of the Environmental Management System and suggest improvements when necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in business or related course of study.Four years of experience in safety department.Demonstrated leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects and manage conflictsWorking knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing programs.Ability to work independently as well as with othersProven organizational skills and attention to accuracy and detailMust be willing to work in an outdoor environmentBe a part of the green movement and join PADNOS today!
