Area Estimator
The Area Estimator performs material takeoffs, prepares estimates and proposals, and otherwise assists branches within the Area in their efforts to secure profitable work. In addition to individual performance, this position is responsible for mentoring and training other Estimators and Account Managers within the Area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide excellent customer service & support for assigned branch offices. Develop and maintain relationships with branch teams (Branch Managers and Account Managers) through regular contact, prompt and quality responses, and professionalism.
- Serve as the estimating subject matter expert for the Area, providing training and mentoring.
- Work with Branch Managers and Area Presidents to prioritize and coordinate estimating efforts between branches.
- Maintain customer and bid databases for assigned customers in Salesforce.
- Interpret specifications and perform material take-offs from construction drawings.
- Participate in pre-award meetings to clarify scope, specifications, and job site conditions.
- Summarize the takeoff and note job conditions that may affect labor productivity.
- Solicite material and subcontract pricing from vendors to incorporate into the estimate.
- Request bonds and bond pricing from the corporate office when needed.
- Prepare cost estimates utilizing MIKE estimating software, field take-offs, or other software company may choose to utilize.
- Prepare material and application submittal when required by contract conditions, or when necessary to clear up ambiguous specifications or when otherwise desirable.
- Prepare a project schedule when required by a specification or company policy.
- Upon award of the subcontract, prepare the Material Requirements and Foreman's Work Order, attend preconstruction meetings, and otherwise support the hand-off to the construction team.
- Assist the Construction Manager and Account Manager with job control setup and cost codes.
- Track & understand labor productivity, material costs, direct and indirect costs, taxes, and margin standards to ensure accurate estimates.
- Participate in the company's Continuous Improvement Process.
- Support the company's Environmental Health & Safety Program.

High school diploma or equivalent.At least 3+ years of estimating or construction management experience.The duties and responsibilities described above are not a comprehensive list.
