Structural Designer

Location : Atlanta, GA

Employment Type : Full-Time (Hybrid)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Structural Designer to join our team in Atlanta.

The Structural Designer will be responsible for :

Developing drawings, models, and design details for commercial, industrial, and structural steel projects.

Collaborating with engineers and project managers.

Applying knowledge of building codes, fabrication methods, and construction practices.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed structural steel and concrete drawings, plans, and shop details using CAD and / or BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, SDS / 2).

Support engineers in developing structural layouts, design concepts, and calculations.

Coordinate with project managers, architects, fabricators, and contractors to ensure accurate design intent.

Review and interpret project specifications, design standards, and applicable codes.

Generate fabrication and erection drawings with clarity and accuracy.

Assist with quantity takeoffs, bill of materials, and material specifications.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, local codes, and industry best practices.

Provide design support during construction, including addressing RFIs and field adjustments.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Design, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

2+ years of experience in structural or steel design / drafting (structural steel detailing experience strongly preferred).

Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit, Tekla, SDS / 2, or other structural modeling software is a plus.

Familiarity with AISC standards and building codes.

Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate drawings under tight deadlines.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Compensation & Benefits

$36–$42 / hour, based on experience.
