Job Description

About the Team : At ZF Foxconn in Tuscaloosa, the Manufacturing Engineer will join a dynamic maintenance team of 15 professionals, including two experienced engineers—this role will be the third. The team is responsible for supporting the assembly of front and rear axle assemblies, working closely with maintenance to ensure optimal performance of all equipment on the assembly lines. This includes robots, PLCs, and torque tools. The engineer will play a key role in process planning, implementing standardized work, and driving continuous improvement across the operation.

What you can look forward to as a Manufacturing Engineer :

  • Making changes to enhance the machine functionality of the equipment, continuously improve / upgrade equipment using six sigma / lean principles, and troubleshoot and solve errors / problems on production equipment.
  • Ensuring the work environment, equipment and processes are in safe condition and meet or exceed OSHA requirements.
  • Analyzing and planning workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designing layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Determining product specifications for the purchase of equipment, materials or parts, according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Contacting potential suppliers for production equipment and supports the final technical choice.
  • Overseeing implementation of the equipment on the floor from delivery to hand off to production, and estimating production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Estimating future manufacturing requirements and potential, help to ensure that the quality of the product produced meets all customer requirements.

Your Profile as a Manufacturing Engineer :

  • 0-2+ years of experience (internship / co-op included)
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft and CAD software.
  • Capable of making sound decisions in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communications capabilities with both verbal and written means.
  • Good time management and prioritizing skills
  • A working knowledge of statistical methods and SPC charts.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
