Description : Pharmacy Technician
Reports to Pharmacist-in-Charge

Required Experience Kansas Pharmacy Technician License
Other Requirements Valid Driver’s License required, Dependable vehicle

- Must be able to communicate and work well with pharmacists, RRTs, RNs, health care professionals, patients, peers, and superiors in a cordial and professional manner
- Ability to use cash register and 10-key calculator with accuracy and efficiency
- Excellent math and verbal skills
- Ability to sit and / or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to climb stepladders, bend, twist, and maneuver in tight spaces
- Vision and hearing correctable to normal
- Ability to lift up-to 40 pounds
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Good short and long-term memory
- Recognize own limitations and seek assistance when required
- Function within the limits of the law and Midwest Family Health policies and procedures and the employee manual
PHARMACY TECHNICIAN :
Answer telephone and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgmentReceive written prescriptions or telephone refill requestsGather information needed to prepare prescriptionsRecord information needed before prescriptions can be dispensedStore written prescription forms after prescriptions are dispensedEnter data into computer programHelp pharmacists prepare prescriptions by counting or pouring medications, labeling containers, and pricing prescriptionsKeep pharmacy department supplies (e.g., bottles, bags, receipts, staples, etc.) well-stockedPlace completed prescriptions in the will-call binOrder, check-in, and stock the pharmacy department shelves with medications when they arrive from suppliersPrepare insurance claims and verify paymentHelp patients find over-the-counter medicationsCheck pharmacy stock for outdated medicationsPrepare medications for nursing homesMaintain immunization schedules and documentationSchedule and prepare documents for MTM (Medication Therapy Management) appointmentsAssist with CMR (comprehensive Medication Review) appointmentsPerform housekeeping duties within the pharmacy departmentCUSTOMER RELATIONS :
Assist customers with the selection of merchandiseUtilize the Point-of-Sale system to process customer purchases and paymentsAssist with the receiving, restocking, ordering, and facing of merchandiseAssist with marketing and publicity activitiesAnswer phone calls as neededOccasional prescription deliveries to customers within the city limitsOTHER :
Use of personal vehicle is occasionally required – mileage to be reimbursed at federal ratePotential for future after hour on call duties (in rotation with other staff)Function within the limits of the law and Midwest Family Health policies and procedures and the employee manualPerform other tasks and duties as assigned to assist in the smooth, efficient operation of the store
