21st Century After School Site Coordinator

Position : Power Scholars program site coordinator at Parson Elementary School (4100 Thom Blvd, Las Vegas, NV). In-person, full-time. Hours : 9 : 30am – 6 : 00pm. The role includes overseeing the daily operations of the grant-funded afterschool program, managing staff, implementing curriculum, and ensuring grant requirements are met. First half of the day includes school support and administrative responsibilities; 2 : 00pm – 6 : 00pm focuses on facilitating the afterschool program. Occasional staff trainings may occur on weekends.

About the Program

The Power Scholars program uses an evidence-based curriculum and licensed teachers to support students' educational readiness, engagement, and outcomes, while providing afterschool childcare at no cost to students or families. The program focuses on closing opportunity gaps for underserved and low-income students.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement the 21st Century grant.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic progress, family engagement, and program activities; ensure data is entered into required systems and submitted by deadlines.
  • Meet all reporting deadlines and deliverables set by funders; adhere to program policies and procedures ensuring documentation, evaluations, and compliance are completed on schedule.
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to maintain required student enrollment levels (minimum 48 students or as directed by grant requirements); collaborate with school staff, families, and community partners to attract and retain students meeting targeted demographics and participation benchmarks.
  • Use collected data to identify trends, monitor progress toward grant outcomes, and inform adjustments to program practices; participate in evaluation processes with external evaluators, funders, or district partners.
  • Provide timely updates to supervisors, school partners, and funders regarding enrollment, attendance, and progress toward grant goals.
  • Work closely with supervisors, school partners, parents, and teachers to develop strategies for student success.
  • Ensure students and staff have all materials and space needed for successful program implementation.
  • Directly supervise up to 10 part-time staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and monitoring performance.
  • Maintain a safe and secure site with established emergency procedures.
  • Ensure proper implementation of the YMCA of Southern Nevada's Youth Protection policies and procedures.

Abuse Risk Management Functions

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children.
  • Attend required abuse risk management training; report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements and job-specific responsibilities; screen employees and volunteers for abuse risk and provide ongoing supervision and training.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with feedback regarding boundaries with youth and adherence to abuse-related policies.
  • Respond promptly to policy violations using progressive disciplinary procedures and maintain confidentiality in reports of abuse.
  • Communicate the organization's commitment to protect consumers from abuse and report essential abuse risk information to the supervisor, executive director, or human resources.

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2-3 years' experience facilitating out-of-school-time programming, preferably with underserved communities
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • 1 year of supervisory experience, preferred
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, preferred
  • Experience with grant management, preferred
  • American Red Cross CPR / First Aid for Professional Rescuers certification within 30 days of hire
  • Minimum age of 21
