SUPERVISOR OF PLACEMENT & VACANCY CONTROL UNIT
The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to preventing and addressing homelessness. In partnership with other City Agencies and Nonprofit Organizations, DHS works to prevent homelessness before it begins, reduces street homelessness, provides temporary shelter, and connects individuals and families to stable housing with a focus on accountability, empathy, and equity. DHS is committed to continuous improvement and employs innovative strategies to deliver high-quality services that support a swift transition from shelter to self-sufficiency. The Agency manages hundreds of facilities and operates with a large team as well as a several billion-dollar budget to meet the diverse needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness. HERO is the sole 24 / 7 DHS organizational unit that identifies and secures shelter for families and single adults who apply for emergency housing assistance. HERO is composed of five units : Vacancy Control for Families with Children and Single Adults, Serious Incidents Unit, Special Projects, Strategic Initiatives and Portfolio Management. The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is recruiting one (1) Supervisor II (SS) to function as Supervisor of Placement & Vacancy Control Unit, who will :
Hours / Schedule : Tuesday Saturday 4 : 00PM 12 : 00AM.
Qualifications : A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in social casework, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
