Job Title : Senior Control Systems Engineer

Location : Detroit, MI

Industry : Aerospace / Defense

Job Description : Theoris Services is assisting our client in their search for a Senior Control Systems Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact aerospace and defense programs while working as part of a collaborative, global engineering team. In this role, you will take ownership of control system functions and interfaces, providing technical leadership to a small team of engineers and driving innovation in system development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop requirements, designs, and verification work products for safety-critical control systems in compliance with ARP4754A and DO-178C
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver best-in-class engineering solutions
  • Provide mentorship, training, and technical direction to junior engineers
  • Review engineering documentation for completeness, quality, and accuracy
  • Resolve complex technical issues using acquired engineering knowledge and experience
  • Support development of internal documentation and training materials
  • Apply model-based system development tools and digital engineering practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of experience (5+ preferred), OR
  • Master's degree in one of the above disciplines, OR
  • PhD in one of the above disciplines
  • Experience with requirements management
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product development engineering experience
  • Experience applying agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with FAA certification or military qualification of airborne systems
  • Experience in control system design and analysis for propulsion, gas turbines, or electrical systems
  • Proficiency with model-based systems tools (MATLAB, Simulink)
  • Experience using SysML modeling software (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler or MagicDraw)
  • Strong understanding of robust design principles and systems engineering methodologies
