Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 26-week Med / Surg Tele assignment requiring TX or compact RN licensure and orthopedic trauma care skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital Med / Surg Telemetry unit within a short-term acute care setting
  • Patient population includes post-operative ortho trauma cases with blood administration and wound vac management
  • Expected nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6
  • Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM
  • Floating required between units and sister facilities as needed
  • Weekend coverage required as needed
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Facility uses Epic EMR and experience is required
  • Facility is a Level II Trauma Center
  • Travelers are required to float between all facilities within the state as needed
  • Solid navy blue scrubs required for licensed RNs
  • Travelers must request all time off and specific scheduling needs up front; post-offer changes may not be granted
  • Must be able to commit to working at least three of the five major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
  • Pre-employment modules must be completed prior to start
  • Free parking available in designated employee / visitor lots
  • Refusal to float may result in termination of assignment

    • Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 1 year recent Med / Surg Tele RN experience required
  • Experience with post-operative ortho trauma care, blood administration, and wound vacs required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Must provide two supervisory references covering one year within the last three years
  • Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility to qualify as traveler
  • Former employees may return after a 3-month separation
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • SSN and DOB required for compliance
  • No background or Nursys hits accepted
