Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with Cerner experience and advanced critical care skills for night shifts.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital ICU with a 12-bed unit specializing in critically ill medical cases, including neuro, ortho, psychiatric, and renal emergenciesLevel 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital environmentNight shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, working every other weekendCares for patients requiring invasive procedures such as bronchoscopies, chest tubes, central / arterial lines, spinal taps, trachs, and EGDsAdvanced monitoring, including hemodynamic, pulmonary artery / Swan Ganz, ICP, CRRT, and induced hypothermiaUtilizes equipment such as Hilrom and citadel beds, GE monitors, artic sun, Baxter IV pumps, and patient liftsUses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience is requiredFloating within scope required to meet facility needs36-hour work weekResponsibilities include bedside procedures, invasive line insertions, ventilation, sedation management, and early mobility protocolsOrientation occurs every other Thursday; required modules to be completed prior to startFirst-time travelers are accepted if experienced in ICU careRoyal blue or white scrubs are required for RNsFree parking is available for travelersCOVID vaccination is not requiredCandidates currently employed in any part of the health system are not eligible for this travel contractBlocked scheduling requests may be accommodatedHoliday coverage may be required as per unit policyRequirements
Active WV or Compact RN license or pending licenseMinimum of 2 years recent ICU RN experience requiredBLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (must be American Heart Association certified)Experience with Cerner EMR requiredProficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmiasPulmonary artery line / Swan Ganz monitoring, continuous and procedural IV sedation, and ICP monitoring experience requiredTwo manager or charge references from the past 2 years required for considerationMust live more than 100 miles from facility; those within 75-100 miles considered on a case-by-case basisPerm employees of the health system cannot return as travelers within 2 years of last worked dateFlu vaccination required unless a valid medical exemption is providedBenefits
