VP Engineering - CTO - ClimaTech - Remote - Series A

I am working with a high growth Series A funded ClimaTech business who are looking for their first VP Engineering / CTO. We are looking for someone who has a background in Big Tech but has also scaled start up's recently, ideally through multiple rounds of funding.

You will have a solid engineering background but must have direct, hands on experience with the following :

• Ingestion : Ability to architect multi-source data pipelines (APIs, PDFs, DOCX, spreadsheets) with complex parsing steps; familiarity with tools such as Unstructured, Markitdown, LlamaParse.
• Retrieval and Reranking : Fluency in building retrieval strategies (including query planning, expansion, and rewriting) on top of dense, sparse and hybrid embeddings; familiarity with standard off-the-shelf vector DBs
• Evals : Experience building and maintaining strong evaluation suites for RAG pipelines; familiarity with tools such as DeepEval, Ragas.
• Prompt Ops : Ability to reason about and engineer LLM contexts to maximize eval metrics while maintaining a balance between latency and pipeline reliability; familiarity with standard prompt engineering strategies such as pruning, compression, offloading to memory
• Model Ops : Experience with LLM routing (optimizing quality output per token-$), retry / fallback strategies, semantic caching; familiarity with LiteLLM, OpenRouter
• Agentic Systems : Experience building long-running tool-use agents with retry / compensation logic; familiarity with AutoGen, LangGraph, Agno, AgentOps
• Systems Engineering : Experience optimizing end-to-end AI pipelines (ingestion ➜ retrieval ➜ LLM ➜ post-processing) for latency / throughput / cost budgets; experience with LLM observability tooling.
