Parks Groundskeeper I

Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning parks and recreation agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational programs, classes, and events as well as facilities, parks and open spaces. Additionally, the Schaumburg Park District hosts thousands of visitors and guest annually at its activities and major tournaments.

The Parks Groundskeeper I reports to the Parks Supervisor and is responsible for many tasks. The main responsibility of this position is refuse removal. Other tasks may include ballfield maintenance, mowing, natural area landscape maintenance, and maintenance of parks and site amenities. Will also assist with renovation of existing fields as well as perform seasonal duties including snow removal, salting, outdoor ice rink maintenance. Will assist with special event set-up and take-down and other duties as assigned.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The best applicants will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) along with some prior experience in ballfield maintenance. Valid Illinois driver's license is required. This position can be physically demanding and includes significant exposure to dust, dirt and debris from dragging of the ballfields.

This is a full-time year-round non-exempt position. Schedule is generally Monday Friday from 6 : 45am 3 : 15pm. Overtime work may be required based on need. Weekend rotation required. Target pay rate is $21.00 to $22.50 per hour DOQ (depending on qualifications).
