The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing support to assist in patient care within the Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Department. Patient care activities are identified and staffed based on needs and as directed by the Coordinator of Operations Manager to ensure the delivery of nursing services.
Essential Functions
General Nursing Responsibilities :
- Accurately document all patient encounters in accordance with nursing standards of practice and organizational policy.
- Review and process provider orders, documentation, and patient communications accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure proper setup of equipment, supplies, and consent forms based on the patient's scheduled visit.
- Respond to patient phone calls requiring nursing assessment, education, and direction regarding appropriate next steps.
- Perform and document nursing assessments, clinical procedures, and patient education within the scope of practice.
- Collaborate with providers, residents, and medical students to support the organization's academic and clinical missions.
- Deliver compassionate, efficient customer service and maintain a professional and respectful environment.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and department initiatives as assigned.
MFM Specific Responsibilities :
Perform extensive chart preparation and provide nursing support for high-risk obstetric patients.Maintain a thorough understanding of complex maternal and fetal conditions impacting pregnancy outcomes.Assist physicians with specialized procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).Provide clinical care education for patients within MFM specialty sub-clinics (e.g., diabetic management).Required Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association (must remain current).Preferred Education and Experience
