- Position Summary :
The Automotive Technician is responsible for performing accurate diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on both General Motors and pre-owned vehicles. This position plays a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining the dealership’s reputation for quality, safety, and reliability. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service on every job.
- Key Responsibilities :
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair all GM and used vehicles to manufacturer and dealership standards.
- Perform multi-point inspections on incoming used vehicles to determine reconditioning needs.
- Complete mechanical and electrical repairs using GM diagnostic systems (GDS2, Techline Connect) and industry-standard tools.
- Accurately document all findings, recommendations, and completed repairs on repair orders.
- Perform warranty and customer-pay repairs in compliance with GM policies and dealership guidelines.
- Communicate clearly with Service Advisors regarding diagnostics, required repairs, parts needs, and time estimates.
- Conduct test drives to confirm proper operation and ensure quality of repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and dealership safety standards.
- Stay current with GM factory training, service bulletins, and updates on new technologies.
- Complete reconditioning on used vehicles
- Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school preferred).
- GM factory training and / or ASE certification(s) preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in automotive repair or dealership service operations.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across a variety of makes and models.
- Familiarity with GM diagnostic software and standard automotive scan tools.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks required in a service environment.
- Excellent time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
