  • Shift / Hours : 40 hours / week, occasional evenings and weekends; travel required (4-8 trips / year, including U.S. and Mexico)

Job Summary :

Join a Fortune 10 company as a Data Center Critical Facilities Technician , supporting high-availability IT operations and facility management. This role is responsible for data center MEP systems and requires advanced administration of Vertiv Sitescan and APC Data Center Expert / IT Advisor (DCE / ITA) tools. You'll help ensure 99.99% uptime by monitoring, configuring, and maintaining HVAC, UPS, generators, and other critical systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Build, configure, and manage Vertiv Sitescan and / or APC DCE / ITA for monitoring and alerting.
  • Configure, update, and program monitoring tools to track UPS, power strips, HVAC, and environmental systems.
  • Manage license counts, thresholds, and alert / alarm settings for monitoring tools.
  • Provide backend support for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering systems.
  • Support data center managers with design, space management, and cabinet power / U-space planning.
  • Ensure performance, availability, reliability, and security of IT and facility resources.
  • Participate in incident ticketing, change management, and documentation processes.
  • Collaborate with vendors to oversee equipment improvements and scheduled maintenance.
  • Enforce safety, physical access, and security protocols for restricted data center areas.
  • Document and inventory all data center equipment and assets.
  • Research and recommend improvements in data center facilities and monitoring technologies.
  • Provide weekend / evening support as needed and travel for facility support.

    • Required Experience :

  • 3-5 years of data center or facilities management experience
  • Administration of Vertiv Sitescan and / or APC DCE / ITA (not just monitoring)
  • Understanding of HVAC, UPS, ATS, and generator systems
  • Background with incident ticketing and change management platforms
  • Strong communication skills using Microsoft Office / Teams
  • Ability to follow structured processes and collaborate effectively

    • Nice-to-Have Experience :

  • Vendor oversight for equipment improvements or scheduled maintenance
  • Familiarity with Nutanix, VMWare, Cisco switches, or similar data center platforms
  • Spanish bilingual skills
  • Prior experience with environmental monitoring in data centers

    • Required Skills :

  • Vertiv Sitescan administration
  • APC DCE / ITA configuration
  • MEP engineering knowledge (mechanical, electrical, plumbing)
  • HVAC systems troubleshooting
  • Change management and incident tracking

    • Preferred Skills :

  • Vendor coordination and oversight
  • Physical security and access enforcement
  • Research and adoption of new data center technologies
  • IT systems familiarity (servers, storage, networking)

    • Additional Skills :

  • Ability to manage license counts and set thresholds for alerts
  • Travel availability (quarterly or semi-annual trips)
  • Ability to maintain positive demeanor and teamwork under pressure
