Patient Services Worker - Bswh Temple Memorial

Patient Services Workers are responsible for a variety of specialized duties related to the receipt, interpretation, and follow-through of patient diet orders in hospital and long-term care settings. Acts as a liaison between the patient, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services.

Job responsibilities include :

• Delivering and collecting patient trays during meal service.
• Delivering nourishments and / or snacks to patients as ordered by physician / dietitian in a timely manner.
• Visiting patients to introduce the services of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
• Obtaining food preferences / dislikes from patients and / or family members.
• Communicating all patient food needs to the appropriate area of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
• Ensuring that nutrition diet care orders are provided to the patient by offering appropriate menu selections.
• Maintaining and adhering to all sanitation standards by following assigned cleaning schedules.
• Completing other sanitation tasks as assigned by the Supervisor / Relief Supervisor.
• Inventorying and re-stocking pantries, refrigerator, and freezers on assigned unit(s).
• Maintaining temperature logs for unit refrigerators and freezers.
• Understanding therapeutic diets using established protocols and seeking assistance from Supervisor or Dietitian if an error is observed.
• Assisting the clinical staff in ensuring all patients' basic nutrition care needs are met.

Qualifications :

This role may have physical demands including but not limited to lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and / or extended standing or walking. This role may also require uniforms and / or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
