Join to apply for the Military Lawyer - JAG Corps role at ARMY & AIRFORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE - AAFES
Both a civilian and a military career can offer a refreshing alternative to the day-to-day corporate grind. A JAG career lets you practice meaningful law from day one – across many fields, with opportunities to travel, and to develop the lawyer you've always wanted to be.
Qualifications
Service Commitment
You do not incur a service commitment until you accept your JAG assignment. The initial active duty commitment is four years, beginning on the day you depart for Officer Training School (OTS).
Prior Military Service
For individuals selected for direct appointment who have prior active duty, National Guard, or Reserve service, time in service is credited for pay purposes. Prior commissioned service can also advance entry grade and date of rank. All active duty service is credited toward retirement.
Application Process
Selection boards are held in February, April, August, and November. Applications are accepted online; you must submit all materials by the 10th of the month preceding the board date (e.g., January 10 for the February board). After submitting your application, a Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) will contact you to schedule an interview. The interview must be completed by the first of the month of the board. Handle any additional materials in accordance with the interviewer's instructions.
Recommendation letters should be addressed to "Selection Board Members" and uploaded as part of your online application.

To schedule an interview, use the online application system to select the Air Force Base (AFB) you wish to interview at. A map of all AFB locations is available within the system.
