job_description.job_card.job_descriptionTechnology training in drafting and design; Associate degree preferred Minimum 5 years' experience in piping design within the Petro-Chemical industry Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD 3D ; Cadworx Plant 3D is a plus Strong computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel Previous experience in a consulting engineering firm preferred Must be located within commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA Self-starter and strong team player Effective communication, leadership, and presentation skills Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage shifting priorities Willingness to learn and apply new technologies Capable of performing fieldwork in industrial facilities
HGA is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical / Piping Designer in our Baton Rouge office . This role involves working on complex and unique engineering design projects, transforming general concepts into detailed and constructible design packages. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities :
- Interpret and analyze general designs provided by engineers
- Prepare detailed designs and construction drawing packages for engineering approval
- Develop piping layouts based on project scope and vendor information
- Review vendor equipment drawings and coordinate with engineers on pipe stress analysis
- Ensure technical accuracy and constructability of final designs
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across the organization
