Overview :
ResponsibilitiesPositions and transfers patients properly.Produces quality diagnostic radiographs.Selects and operates all radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment.Processes film.Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards by shielding and collimation of the radiation beam.Administers contrast media under the direction of a physician and within the guidelines of the Radiology Department / Health System policies.Schedules radiology examinations in the correct manner.Accurately charges for supplies used.Assists the radiologists and other staff physicians in performing radiology procedures.Assists in performing first aid if necessary.Assists referring physicians in locating films and reports in the Radiology Department.Transports patients to and from their rooms, or other areas, as needed.Keeps the work area clean and orderly.Completes all required continuing education.Demonstrates effective, courteous communication with patients, families, and other employees.Performs clerical duties such as answering the telephone, registering patients, filing, sorting, delivering reports, taking insurance information, reading reports to the physicians offices.Operates the Radiology Information System (RIS).Performs routine lab procedures such as drawing blood and collecting urine and other specimens.General Duties : 19.1 Observes universal precautions consistently. 19.2 Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate.19.3 Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance19.4 Meets Health System attendance standards.19.5 Performs other duties as directed including clerical.19.6 Abides by all the rules in the Radiology and Health System policy and procedure manuals.Obtains properly completed examination request, clinical history, ICD Code, and charges proper CPT code.
