Engineer Electrical 4
This position is in fleet technical support of NIMITZ class ship specifically in the ETC system and advanced electrical system area. The candidate should have significant experience in the Control System and equipment of the systems function and / or integration of complex systems involving experience with the controls integration of motors, motor drives, variable frequency drive, and encoders. Familiarity with carrier reactor and propulsion plant arrangement, operation and construction is also desired. The candidate should have experience leading complex technical projects and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position will require significant interaction with both internal and external customers and the candidate must be comfortable interacting with technical and management leaders outside of the company. This position will also require overseeing senior / junior engineers with guidance / advisor on any questions of making decision in the technical needs.
Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 4 years of experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
The ideal candidate would have a background and in depth knowledge of ETC and Advanced Electrical Systems of Aircraft Carrier and / or any roles of troubleshooting (strong experience on remote field support) analyzing, testing, and implementing of control systems especially in Variable Frequency Drive or Servo Drive programming / configuring and implementation.
