General Courier Duties :
Delivers specimens from patient collection sites to Laboratory processing area, while following laboratory policy and procedures regarding special handling and time restrictions. Ensures all transported materials are maintained at appropriate temperatures and delivered to laboratory in a manner that preserves the integrity of the specimen. Drives company car when available or personal car. Receives mileage reimbursement when using personal car. Reviews and complies with Hospital P&P 35-28 regarding driving privileges. Upon returning from courier runs, ensure that there is a minimum of 3 / 4 tank of gas in company vehicles. Keep company vehicles clean and presentable. This includes washing the car, keeping the inside neat, and tidy and required vehicle maintenance. Completes mileage reimbursement voucher and submit mileage voucher in a timely manner. Reviews, fills and delivers supply requisitions from clients. Responds to phone inquiries. Completes location / specimen manifest for tracking purposes.
Call Center Duties :
Dispatching mobile phlebotomists and couriers to client locations when needed. Responds / reacts to courier shortages as well as road problem situations ensuring maximum on-road efficiency and optimum customer service. Maintains the STAT and routine fax / call list during scheduled working hours. Maintains voicemail in a timely manner. Performs routine route analysis and planning for new and / or additional routes. Assists as required with special transportation requirements. Performs courier routes as needed. Communicates with patients and client offices regarding the recollection of samples. Maintains logs for QA functions regarding phlebotomy recollections and off-site STAT collections
