About the Role and the Organization
This position plays a key leadership role in the development and operational readiness of a cutting-edge pharmaceutical manufacturing and drug development facility. The Associate Director Automation Engineering Control System Hardware, I&C, Projects & Site Support will lead a multidisciplinary team overseeing hardware systems, instrumentation and controls (I&C), automation project delivery, and ongoing site support. As the site progresses through its startup phase toward full GMP operations, this role will help define the automation project portfolio and build core engineering capabilities. The environment requires adaptability, collaboration, and strategic leadership to support innovation and scale in a fast-moving organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the hardware, I&C, and automation site support team, ensuring staff development, performance management, and resource planning.
- Oversee project and portfolio management activities, ensuring timely execution of automation milestones and alignment with business objectives.
- Develop and implement automation engineering plans, programs, and initiatives, including establishing metrics in partnership with analytics teams.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and standards while supporting safe and reliable site operations.
- Contribute to the organizational culture and capabilities through cross-functional leadership, collaboration, and process improvement.
Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in Engineering with experience in site support, automation hardware, instrumentation, and project / portfolio management within a regulated manufacturing environment.Minimum of 10 years of experience in biopharma engineering, operations, or manufacturing.Proven experience in the design, development, commissioning, and qualification of automated systems and supporting technologies such as SCADA, DCS, MES, QMS, LIMS, and data historians (e.g., DeltaV, Rockwell, Syncade, OSI PI).Experience in developing automation infrastructure including control panels, loop checks, and IQ documentation in greenfield or large-scale projects.Strong leadership and planning skills, including managing site support structures, post-qualification initiatives, and long-term team development.Contact
