Overview

Plenitud PR has been a leader in offering environmental educational services to farmers, students, and others since 2010. The organization focuses on disaster service, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, and agroecology to improve food security and reduce environmental damage. The program serves as a demonstration and educational model at the Plenitud PR Center for Sustainable Living, Las Marías Community Center & Resiliency Hub, and partner farms in the western region of Puerto Rico.

The AmeriCorps State member duties center on supporting the Agroecology Program, empowering beginning farmers to start their own enterprises, supporting regional farmer networks, and assisting in the development of demonstration plots.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Agroecology Program and its initiatives within the program.
  • Train and empower beginning farmers to start agriculture enterprises to create jobs and improve food security.
  • Collaborate with local producers to support marketing and sales of agricultural products.
  • Serve as Plenitud PR staff and instructors in the development of demonstration plots at the Plenitud PR Center for Sustainable Living, Las Marías Community Center & Resiliency Hub, and partner farms.
